Review of Wale's "Attention Deficit"

After a flurry of impressive mixtapes the DC rep Wale has finally decided to grace us with his debut album, Attention Deficit. Equipped with his unique flow, unlimited lyrical references, production from multiple big-names, and features from the likes of Bun B, Gucci Mane, Lady Gaga, K'Naan, and more, Mr. Folarin built a pretty solid album.

Mainstream appeal from tracks like "Chillin'", which features Lady Gaga and samples "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" by Steam, will help move this off shelves, but what the true Wale fans are looking for is there too in the form of songs like "Triumph", a self-boasting, hook-less rampage, and "Mirrors" where Bun B gives Wale a run for his money with a dope guest verse.

There was almost no slipups in this project. Even the songs that appear disastrous on paper like "Pretty Girls" and "Let it Loose", featuring Gucci Mane and Pharell respectively, turned out alright.

Wale stays conservative on Attention Deficit; mostly all of the songs work because they come from a mold that he has already tested. This made for an easy transition from "mixtape-wale" to "album-wale" so if you bump his mixtapes you should like this album.
