Blogger Hates Music Blogs

"Whoop, Whoop..."

I have somewhat of a rocky history with the google-operated blogging platform, Blogger. Having fully removed my blog multiple times, the boys over at blogger stay steadily riding my ass when it comes to following their rules.

Basically, how it works around here is that no blogger is technically not allowed to post any music that they don't have rights to. But since everyone else does it without consequence, music bloggers publishing their blog on Blogger think it'll be ok for them to do so too, right? WRONG.

Unfortunately, Blogger don't play that. Whenever the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) cry's foul on a blog, the folks running Blogger don't hesitate to strip said blog of it's owner. Most of the time there's warnings: A removed post or two, then a cease and desist e-mail, following the complete deletion of your shit, all of it, forever. Other times they just skip all the "courtesy" and remove you, no apologies.

Makes you question whether it's a good idea to be hosting your blog on Blogger, doesn't it? I tried myself to make the switch to wordpress awhile back, but got lost in the process and ended up running back to the hand that smacked me down. Hopefully they'll spare me on this ambush, I've tried to keep mp3 downloads to a minimum so far.

If the blog does go down though (you never know) please refer to my twitter page for the new url.

thanks.

WordPress does the same thing. I had a WP blog deleted instantly because of a single complaint. Blogger is better in that they provide you with a few warnings.
WordPress.org seems like the way to go, but then you have to self-host, and there's really no solution better than the other.

Yeah WP.org is definitely the most reliable in terms of not getting deleted. It's just a hassle trying to switch over, with all the hosting and stuff, and it's more expensive if you want to do it right
